Celebrating My 16 Year Anniversary Achievement In WordPress

wordpress logo, wordpress

Before I begin I need to apologize about the lateness in bringing this bit of news to your attention. It wasn’t intentional and as I’ve often mentioned here on the Ken Pierce Media outlet, I love sharing any of the online anniversaries for the websites and even our social media platforms because its a great way to line out what makes this kind of pursuit tick and to celebrate any milestone achievements. Its a lot less self-aggrandizing than it is informational and with that being said onto the news. Back in September I got the notice from the WordPress Administration screen that I had just reached my 16th Anniversary Achievement on the platform. Ordinarily I would rush to share this kind of news but the publishing regimen was a bit chaotic across all brands with some major events being covered and written about along with assorted videos for the family of YouTube Channels. Historically, the delving into WordPress was to have a side blog that was connected to the original version of the PiercingMetal site and while we would call this “PiercingMetal Musings”, it is but a memory at this point in my creative history. Since then the entire original website has been reformatted into WordPress and now it just keeps getting larger in terms of the posts and images I’ve uploaded. Since starting in the HTML Side of publishing, its just amazing to see how much has changed thanks to something like WordPress. Let’s take a look at some standings as far as what the Admin panel of each website tallies up.

I’ll repeat a little bit of the manner in which I did this last year as this kind of post is still rather new to me. I’ll start off with the WordPress Views since the way that these stats present themselves there are three disciplines. Views, Posts and Visitors. None of the statistical information comes from before 2014 when our first full foray into WordPress began. As you might expect the tally for PiercingMetal remains the highest. If I post a few big ticket items on any of the sites, these views in total should surpass the one million mark. At least as far as WordPress is concerned. What I like about views in WordPress is that you can easily see what post the audience is responding too and that helps guide the creative edge and makes you do more like this.

Total Views WordPress
PiercingMetal = 828,150
Piercing Ken = 97,629
Ken Pierce Media = 4,756
Grand Total = 930,535

As I said the last time, the posts are pretty much as steady as they go based on the publishing frequency and as revealed before, anything that gets published to PiercingMetal and “The Chronicles of Piercing Ken” is added to the Ken Pierce Media presence as a feed. Since that time this angle has become the senior editorial guidepost and even features a lot of the YouTube clips I’ve been doing so site visitors can view them in one place. Since the launch of KPM on WordPress I’ve also continued to use the long-standing Tumblr and the companion Blogspot. Folks who are using either of those mediums are welcome to follow the brand on there but this is really where the magic happens as far as deeper post quality and engagement. As you look at the posts in total, I can say that I still have no idea just how many will be able to get published before the year runs out. Right now we are closing in on 16K and if I add the gamut of recent YouTube videos to KPM hitting that number will be a cakewalk. As you can see, no matter how creative we can or cannot be the content rises all the time.

Total Posts WordPress
PiercingMetal = 8,441
Piercing Ken = 1,516
Ken Pierce Media = 5,988
Grand Total = 15,945

This last batch of numbers is something that I love to see when we are publishing and this feature on WordPress seems to be just over 10 years old It would have been great to be running full on WordPress for a little longer but I didn’t brave the plunge when I could and should have. These are cool numbers since the lower grouping is still really a new site that is growing. I can also see visitors in Google Analytics and they are somewhat higher than the WordPress tallies. I’d like to see the total surpass 400K by the end of the year so let’s see what engagement all the writing from now until then generates.

Total Visitors WordPress
PiercingMetal = 268,252
Piercing Ken = 62,275
Ken Pierce Media = 2,974
Grand Total = 344,501

Ken Pierce Media Thoughts: Thanks for the interest in this kind of stuff and believe me I enjoy sharing some of the inner workings of it all. Understanding the numbers side of the fence is something I always try to instill when I am consulting on other creator blogs so they know what to be aware of. Now after using WordPress for 16 years I’ve gotten pretty good at it all but I have not mastered the Gutenberg aspect of posting. I tried it a few times and it was very time consuming. When you have three websites and a publishing schedule like we have to address there is very little time. Oh before I go let me remind those curious how the newest site has almost as much content as the senior brand and that is all from the Tumblr import when I launched. It gave it a nice little content push. I’ll wrap this up now and thank you for any time that you spend on the websites, social media platforms and our video feeds. I would love it I saw more comments than have been coming in but that is how the web flows, its all delivery and quickly onto the next thing. Remember to hit the About Page to find the topical social media profiles and I will see you again soon. The Ken Pire continues to grow…
