Ken Pierce Media Is Now On Steam

Hey there my friends and those who’ve just happened by. I wanted to take a moment out of the day to let you know that the Ken Pierce Media outlet has just joined onto “Steam”. Now before I get more into the reasoning behind this new network for the brand, let me quote just what this is by citing their Official Wikipedia entry. I’ll link to the whole thing down below but for this part it will suffice.

What Is Steam: Steam is a video game digital distribution service and storefront developed by Valve Corporation. It was launched as a software client in September 2003 to provide game updates automatically for Valve’s games, and expanded to distributing third-party titles in late 2005. Steam offers various features, like game server matchmaking with Valve Anti-Cheat measures, social networking, and game streaming services. Steam client’s functions include game update automation, cloud storage for game progress, and community features such as direct messaging, in-game overlay functions and a virtual collectable marketplace (c/o Wiki).

With that being disclosed, what makes KPM sign onto this particular avenue when over the past years of PiercingMetal and Piercing Ken coverage I’ve pointed out that I wasn’t really the biggest gaming person. I do like them but its just one of those pursuits that I didn’t manage to follow in all my years of fandom. I do have an old XBox, a PS1 and still use my PS3 to watch the Blu-ray discs but outside of that I am not doing much gaming. So back in 2022 when I did the Play NYC gaming convention and talked to many of the talented developers, I was told that I could “find them on Steam” or they would be releasing a free test model on Steam and being a gaming novice I had no idea what they even were talking about. After finding the same sort of discourse at the 2023 event for Play NYC I felt that it would be best to have an account so I could demo some of the things I was learning about in my run of interviews from the convention. Some might wonder why create the profile on KPM as opposed to either PiercingMetal or Piercing Ken and the answer is simple. There will be times when something I examine will fall to one outlet more than the other but when there is something that falls to far left of center from one site its best to be posted about there. Since KPM serves as our guiding force brand nowadays, having the profile here made the most logical sense. Fast forward a whole bunch of clicks and here we are 🙂

Dislikes: While I hate citing any discontent in a general announcement about something new that I’ve just joined onto, I did have a few points that I didn’t like after creating my profile. The main issue I found is that the profile is very limited in its overall information. There is no place to link to your main website and perhaps even more important is the lack of any of the major social media linkability. Having met a score of gamers over the last few years I know full well that they are using TikTok, Gram, and even YouTube to discuss their creations in a broader sense. Now I’d love to have my site, Facebook, TikTok and YouTube links be visible to anyone who happens to find the brand on this network because that only increases the eventual reach and truly offers up a better engagement. I realize that many networks don’t like sending their visitors away from their service but come on. As a representative of the media with all the things, I want anyone who finds me to see the other places where we can interact with each other. I also don’t like that there doesn’t seem to be an ability to be followed. I am in the business so I am not looking to build a personal friendbase here as much as I am to have my goings on followed. The reps I deal with don’t care how many friends you have as much as they care about how many profiles are following yours. Any friends that you might see on the link are actually people that I know and have some dealings with. End of griping LOL.

So there you have it in a nutshell. My hope for this network and how I will be using it will be to better engage with the gaming community people that I have met at the assorted Play NYC conventions. They are truly awesome and super talented with what they are creating and entertaining people with. In my real life I am a technical guy but I never found myself getting into programming or game development. That is next level cool to me and as creators share with me here I hope to be able to direct you to some really cool stuff. I’ve interviewed more than thirty developer teams and creators and you can check those out over on the PiercingMetal YouTube Channel via the Playlist found HERE. All of these creative types are welcome to reach out to me to have their games discussed on said network. Thanks for reading, be sure to find me here but please know as far as professional networking and chit chat goes its better to keep those to the email or Facebook Pages. See you next time.
