The Ken Pierce Media outlet has been steadily growing for almost three years now and a part of that brand growth is making sure that there is a continual presence on whatever popular social media page that appears along the way. For the last few months, the Twitterverse seems to have been torn asunder based on their being purchased by billionaire inventor Elon Musk and resultant of that purchase and numerous changes, many users exited the platform and went over to something called Mastodon Social. So what is that exactly? Let’s take a look…
What Is Mastodon: Mastodon is free and open-source software for running self-hosted social networking services. It has microblogging features similar to Twitter, which are offered by a large number of independently run nodes, known as instances, each with its own code of conduct, terms of service, privacy policy, privacy options, and content moderation policies. Mastodon was created by Eugen Rochko (c/o Wiki)
Now that you know a little bit more about it, I am happy to share that Ken Pierce Media is now also on Mastodon Social. My first post is linked below for those who might be in the network as well and feel like adding the profile to one of the accounts they are following. This is about a week old and I’ve only just started to use it and truth be told I wasn’t even sure that I should create a profile for the brand. However, at the end of the day its better to secure ones branding and voice on any new platform to have control over it. I opted for this angle instead of the PiercingMetal and Piercing Ken accounts and feel that when Mastodon is used, it will be to also point out highlights on those other sites.
At the time of this post I’m unsure about how often I will even be using it but I guess I can say that it’s a safe bet that it will be used in the same fashion of how I am currently using the Ken Pierce Media Twitter. Though I’ve often pointed out that Twitter is barely any help to the the expansion of my media worlds, I didn’t exit the platform because I was afraid of any of Elon’s changes. If he makes it a pay to use platform or emphasizes a subscription based model he can go scratch. I do have friends that love Twitter and even they went over to Mastodon but the question remains is will this be effective as a replacement going forward. Probably not but it’s better to have an account than to not because everything I post about directs you to some of our content. I’ve also did a screen capture to show how the overall profile looked at the time of this posting and as you can see I was able to link some of the other important social media profiles on this page. Right now I’m emphasizing both the TikTok and the YouTube Channel for KPM as those are two major networks if you can trust what is happening on the Internet. Chime in down below and let me know what you think about this one and if you’re considering using it over Twitter or in tandem with it. I’m definitely curious to learn what you think. See you next time.
