While doing some Event updates on the calendars for both PiercingMetal and “The Chronicles” of Piercing Ken, I saw that one of the upcoming happenings had announced a last-minute venue change due to the closure of the Brooklyn Expo Center. Shocking news for sure and when I did a quick Google search for something to confirm this I found absolutely nothing. I then checked another event that usually followed this one and they said they were looking for a new event space so while nothing was out there it would appear that the Brooklyn Expo Center had shut its doors.
Ken Pierce Media Thoughts: While I cannot 100% verify the information, I have to go on the news that two events that would be there if it was in business are looking for other homes. That being said this news sucks for sure because it was a really good event space and I’ve attended stuff there since 2015 when the NYC Hot Sauce Expo moved to this space. I’ve also been there for a couple of comic conventions like Borough Con, Brooklyn Comic Con and Five Points Festival along with the Fear The Riff Expo. Over the last few years I knew of several food events and some tattoo happenings but I never looked into those as an attendee based on too many other things on the schedule. All of them will be in need of new places to happen but if I discover that this information was erroneous I will bring you all the latest update. One of the things I liked most about this event space was its Greenpoint, Brooklyn location because there were so many other things to do right around it along with some cool NYC sightlines from the nearby piers. Oh well. I’ll close up now and ask what you in the readership think about the news. Since I attended events for both sides of the creative coin I felt announcing this here was the best course to take.
